Drones: what the price jump buys, and how long a battery really lasts
Our DJI comparison shows what the price difference buys. The Mini 4K has downward sensors only, no obstacle avoidance and no subject tracking, and TechRadar says crashes are almost inevitable without sensors. The Mini 5 Pro adds a 1-inch sensor, forward LiDAR with omnidirectional sensing and 4K at up to 120 fps. Space.com and TechRadar measured about 20 minutes of real flight per battery on both, against 31 and 36 minutes advertised. This category also tracks 360 cameras and microphones, which we have not compared yet.
Plan on about 20 minutes per battery and buy the bundle with extra batteries. Check where you will fly and whether obstacle sensing matters, and check your local drone rules.
